Laptop Internal Fan

Quick Tips to avoid laptop’s overheating issue
If you take “Lap-Top” name literally and usually place it in your lap while using it then you might have noticed that it does generate quite a bit of heat. You can also feel its heat on your legs. Its not a potential hazard for you but it can definitely destroy you laptop over time. Sometimes you notice that it is slowing down and randomly freezing but most people don’t take overheating as a consideration for this issue. Especially today’s ultra fast laptops even generate more heat and we need to come up with some solutions to prevent that. Here are some of the basic steps which you can take to avoid this from happening:
Do not use your laptop on surfaces that prevents airflow
Common surfaces that cause laptop overheating are bed, carpet, any soft surface and even your lap. If you look at the bottom of your laptop, you will notice small rubber feet. They are designed to give the laptop a little lift from the surface and allow airflow through it. These feet work only on hard surfaces, and soft surfaces can still prevent air flow. If you are using laptop on bed, carpet or any other soft surface, make sure to put the laptop on a hardcover book or any other equivalent flat surface.
Remove dirt from your laptop using compressed air instead
Compressed air is ideal for removing dirt from any electronic device. It is more safe and effective than any other cleaning method. Compressed air is used to blow any dust inside the laptop. Over time dust will build up inside your laptop and will eventually reduce the airflow. Utilizing a can of compressed air to clean your laptop internal components can really save you from a big hassle.
Disable any used services and programs on your laptop
If you are running more applications on your laptop that mean its doing more work and hence building more heat. It is often safe and ideal to turn off some applications or services which are not being used.
Monitor your laptop’s temperature
It is important for you to monitor the temperature of your laptop’s internal components. Many freeware tools can be used to monitor your laptop’s internal component’s activity.
For example:
|MG| EVEREST Free Edition
CPUID – System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting
Properly shutdown your computer before packing it
Heat will build up very rapidly if you packed your laptop in bag without shutting it down. If you close the lid, most laptops go in stand-by mode, but that doesn’t mean that they are shut down. It saves all the work on the RAM and turns off other hardware, but it still generates little bit of heat. If you place your laptop in a sealed bag, then the chances are it will get overheated.
Maintenance
Last but not least, make sure to perform frequent maintenance of your laptop. Make sure all internal system fans are working and running on proper speed(same monitoring tools can be used). Virus/Malware are malicious program that can make your laptop do extra and malicious work. They can make your system busy and can add extra load. Make sure to have a good anti-virus program.
By taking these simple steps you can protect your laptop from overheating. Same steps can be taken for your desktop computer too, but laptop is more prone to overheating and requires extra attention and precautions. Overheating might not fry your laptop but can it can reduce the life span of internal devices affected by the heat. It’s not worth the risk.
