Laptop End Table

My laptop is overheating for no reason… do I need to get it checked?

I have an HP G62 149WM … win7 home premium 64 bit. 4gb ram, intel hd graphics card, and intel core i5 430m processor. The laptop is getting insanely hot really fast for no reason these days. I used core temp to check, and at startup the cpu is at about 50 C and in about 5 minutes, it’ll be at 60 C. If i run a virus scan or even try to play a game (games with really crappy graphics, like Rise of Nations or AOE 2) then the cpu temperature increases to 90 – 100 C. The fan works, but i dont think it’s able to cut it. I keep my laptop about 4 inches off the table (flat surface) so that all the vents are open, but it still gets really hot. I’ve tried so many tune-ups and i’ve even tried ending the processes from my programs, but it still stays at 60 C. Any advice? My warranty runs out in about 2 weeks, so ya.. i need to act fast if there’s a problem. It’s been like this since i bought the laptop and its really annoying
