Installing Windows Vista Service Pack 1 has caused my Dell Laptop Inspiron 1525 to malfunction?

Once I installed the Windows Service Pack 1, my new Dell Laptop will not shut down, it re-starts when put in sleep, hibernate and re-starts when you close the lid. I uninstalled the update and the computer seems to work great, but I see on answers that it is a critical update that needs to be installed. Suggestions?

UNDO your update. I believe the available update doesn’t support your system. I have a HP Compaq laptop running on WindowsVista Business and it crash when i updated it.

Maybe the update of Service Pack 1 is only available for Original Retail Version, maybe, just maybe, not for Business or Ultimate, or Premium packs.
